FROM THE LOST SECRET OF THE RAINFOREST TEAM

Thank you for purchasing this game. We hope you have
as much fun playing it as we had creating it! We would love
to hear what you think about the game. If you have any
comments, please write us.

------------------------------------------------------
ADAM'S ECO-NEWSLETTER

You may be tempted to (at some point) throw out the
Newsletter. This is a warning not to, however. This
guide contains information that will help you to get past
certain points in the game. You will not be able to pass these
points without the newsletter.

------------------------------------------------------
GAME MEMORY REQUIREMENTS

To play Lost Secret of the Rainforest, we require that you
have 583,680 bytes of available memory. If you notice some
slowdowns in the game, increase your base memory a little.
This will make it a little faster for all of you speed demons out
there. To free up more memory you can buy a memory
manager, or you can create a boot disk. You can create a boot
disk from the game install program.

------------------------------------------------------
DOS INSTALLATION

Insert disk into drive and type drive letter,
example: A: [ENTER]
At the prompt (A: or B:) type: INSTALL [ENTER]
Change options or accept default options.

------------------------------------------------------
WINDOWS INSTALLATION

To run in windows you must run the Windows install. Start
Windows and select "RUN" from the Program Manager. Run
B:\setup. The Windows install will copy over all the files
needed to run the game in Windows. To run the DOS version
you will need to run the DOS install.

------------------------------------------------------
WINDOWS SOUND

The Windows install will ask you if you want to install for
BASE or EXTENDED level sound.

BASE level sound runs on channels 13 thru 16 and is used
for sound cards like SoundBlaster, ProAudio, Adlib, or
any FM Yamaha 3812 type card.
EXTENDED level sound runs on channels 1 thru 10 and is
used for cards like the LAPC-I, MT-32, SCC-1, Sound
Canvas, Turtle Beach MultiSound, or any General MIDI
device.

------------------------------------------------------
RUN THE GAME

For DOS:

From the directory in which you have installed "Lost
Secret of the Rainforest", type: RAIN [ENTER]

For Windows:

Double click on the icon for Rainforest.

------------------------------------------------------
TIPS FOR FASTER LOADING

If you notice the game or opening cartoon running slowly, it
may be due to a fragmented hard drive. There are many
commercial and shareware hard drive unfragmenting
programs available.
------------------------------------------------------
TANDY 2500 (and some other models)

If you notice a tremendous slowdown on a Tandy machine,
it may be due to a lack of memory. There have been noted
problems where the Tandy may report more memory than it
actually has. The solution to this is to free up more memory,
or make a boot disk.

NEW USERS

If you are unfamiliar with Sierra's icon interface, you may
wish to click on the "?" help button on the iconbar found at
the top of your screen. If your child cannot solve the very
first puzzle, a small, interactive tutorial begins. The
tutorial trains the player in the use of our interface.
-----------------------------------------------------
PRO AUDIO USERS

If you are using a Pro AudioSpectrum 16 or Plus card and
experience problems during the opening cartoon or during the
game, rerun the INSTALL utility and select "Sound Blaster"
as your audio device.

Selecting "Sound Blaster" will utilize the PAS card's built-in
Sound Blaster emulation for digitized audio effects.
-----------------------------------------------------
PRINTING PROBLEMS

This game has an option to print a rainforest fact sheet.
In order to print, you MUST have a printer configured for LPT1
and the printer MUST be turned on. When you select "Print
My fact Sheet" from the Ecorder menu, a warning screen pops up
and you may choose not to print. If you select "print" and you
have a printer error (no printer, printer not ON, or printer
not configured for LPT1), you will get an error message.
Hit Escape multiple times to exit the error message and return
to the game. If your printer is simply turned OFF, turn it ON
and press <Enter> to print the fact sheet.
------------------------------------------------------
CLICK THOSE MESSAGES

Unlike some Sierra games, the text messages will not
automatically clear. You must click these messages away.
We did this to give your child all the time needed to read the
text or to seek help in doing so.
