your monitor's documentation for maximum resolution
		and refresh rate information.

After selecting appropriate refresh rates for your monitor,
	select "EXIT".

    16.	When prompted to save changes in AUTOEXEC.BAT, select "NO".

The screen will turn black momentarily while your display
is checked. If you have an energy-saving monitor, you may
need to turn it off and then on again.

    17. When the source directory pop-up window appears
	-select Install.

	When prompted
	- insert diskette 2, select OK and wait until the installation
program finishes transferring files to your hard disk.

    18. Remove the diskette from the diskette drive, perform a
shutdown, and then restart the system.

    19. When the installation is complete, do the following:
	 a. Open "OS/2 System".
	 b. Open "System Setup".
	 c. Open the "System" object. The Screen page of the
Settings notebook lists all the supported resolutions

------------------------------------------------------------------
FUNCTIONAL RESTRICTIONS
------------------------------------------------------------------

o With the program VPIC6 under FS DOS, GIFs cannot be viewed in
   the 1280x1024 resolution.

o Users of the software motion video feature of MMPM/2
should expect satisfactory results in 256-color modes.
However, in 65,536 color modes, users of the feature will
experience unusual results. An OS/2 pervasive fix package
will be available electronically from IBM.

In addition, the software motion video feature will take
advantage of a 1MB aperture on video adapters and systems
where it is available to improve the performance of video
   playback in 65,536 color modes.

For those systems with non-standard locations, the actual
physical address of the aperture must be provided in the
   following CONFIG.SYS statement:

	       SET VIDEO_APERTURE=xxxh

where "xxx" is a hexadecimal value in units of 1MB,
representing the actual physical address to map to the
aperture. For PCI cards xxxh=880h. Therefore, the
   CONFIG.SYS statement should read:

	       SET VIDEO_APERTURE=880h

o Context switching from Win-OS/2 full screen to OS/2 full screen may
produce a distorted text in OS/2 full screen.

------------------------------------------------------------------
BEFORE CONTACTING NUMBER NINE TECHNICAL SUPPORT
------------------------------------------------------------------

 Installation Problems

During the installation of this driver a DISPLAY.LOG file
is created in the OS2\INSTALL directory. This file
identifies the OS/2 system files that were updated and
indicates whether the installation was successful. The
contents of this file might be useful if you need to report
an installation problem to Number Nine Technical Support.

 OS/2 2.11 (or later) Installation

Note that this release includes patches to the OS/2 2.1
kernel and virtual Windows driver, which are required to
support the new 32-bit S3 driver architecture.

If you are running OS/2 2.11 the patches in this package
are not necessary. Thus, under OS/2 2.11, or with the
Pentium patches under OS/2 2.1, the installation program's
attempt to patch the kernel will fail. This failure will
be recorded in DISPLAY.LOG, and is normal! It does not
indicate a failure to correctly install the drivers.

 Resolution Availability and DRAM

If you change the amount of VRAM on your #9GXE64Pro, you will
	need to:

	1. Set your #9GXE64Pro to run in VGA mode by running the
appropriate SETVGA procedure for your OS/2 version.
(see NEW SETVGA PROCEDURE section in this README.TXT)

	2. Then, re-install the Number Nine OS/2 Display Driver for
the #9GXE64Pro (per the INSTALLATION FROM DISKETTE section
	   in this README.TXT).

To contact Technical Support, please refer to the CONTACTING NUMBER
NINE VISUAL TECHNOLOGY CORP. section near the top of this README.TXT
file.
