In order to install either the ES488 or the ES688 OS/2 driver,
the OS/2 Multimedia (MMPM/2) must be already installed in your system;
if not, perform the OS/2 Multimedia installation first. 
Refer to OS/2 manual for details.

In OS/2, from the Multimedia group, run the Multimedia-Install program
and select the drive and directory where the ESS driver is located in; 
at this moment, you will see an icon for either the ES488 driver 
or the ES688 driver, depending on your choice. 
Click on the icon to select the driver and click on Install button 
to install the driver. From this point on, follow the interactive 
instructions on the screen to set the hardware settings of 
your sound card and to complete the driver installation.

Please change ,after the Driver Installation (normal 488), with the OS/2
Systemeditor the config.sys to the following settings.

I/O Adress : 240
DMA        : 1
IRQ        : 2

The line where you have to make your changes is (please check this)

DEVICE = C:\MMOS2\ES488DD.SYS /B240 /D1 /I2 /N:ES4881$

..then save this ,.. shut down system and reboot
