Quake (SDL Version, BeOS Alpha 1) BeOS binary by David Powell (david@mad.scientist.com) http://www.madprof.org.uk This is a BeOS binary version of the SDL port of Quake. The original SDL source code is available from the SDL website: http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/projects/quake/ The tweeked BeOS version of the SDL source code is available from my website: http://www.madprof.org.uk The vast majority of the work was done by Sam Lantinga (slouken@devolution.com). I have only tweeked a few files so that it compiles and runs under BeOS. This is a VERY quick port, IT IS NOT PERFECT. Sound is choppy, the frame rate is low (but perfectly playable), networking doesn't work, CD audio doesn't work, ONLY tested with the shareware levels. I wasn't going to bother releasing this version, but I had a few requests for it... Installation instructions: As you are reading this, I presume that you have extracted the sdlquake binary to a folder somewhere on your system. SDL Quake can be run from ANY folder. You MUST have the latest version of the SDL library installed (Version 1.0.1 or higher). You can get SDL from http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/ Just download the BeOS version and follow the installation instructions. You will also need the Quake shareware levels. Download the file quakesw-1.0.6.tar.gz from http://www.devolution.com/~slouken/SDL/projects/quake/ Make sure you get the .tar.gz file and NOT the .zip file. Extract the archive, which should leave you with a folder called id1. Move this into the quake folder. SDL quake MUST be run from the Terminal. You cannot run it by double clicking the icon. Open the Terminal application. Type cd
